"Chandigarh has set an example in slum rehabilitation. It happens to be the only city in the entire country for having undertaken this project in its true spirit. Under the rehab scheme 60,000 families would get houses, of which around 50,000 have already been rehabilitated", said MP Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a massive rally in sector 25 rehabilitation colony.
Mr. Bansal today lashed out at the BJP for instigating people. He appealed to thepeople not to be misled by the BJP and assured them of all amenities in their vicinity.
Mr Bansal was accompanied by former city mayor, Mr. Pardeep Chhabra, and party Colonies Cell president Mr. Shashi Shankar Tiwari.
Assuring a slum free Chandigarh, he said the residents who had got a place to live should feel fortunate as they had been provided the best amenities in a city where land cost is touching a new high, adding that construction of each house had cost the Chandigarh Administration over Rs 2.5 lakh.
He also said soon licenses would be given to the roadside vendors, and elaborated on the new scheme of providing food grains to the poor.
Mr Bansal said the BJP was trying to stall developmental works which was evident from its activities by stalling the parliament in the national capital and MC house here.
Former Mayor, Pardeep Chhabra while addressing the people said, The promises made by the Congress have been met adding that BJP is doing politics in the name of the religion and appealed to the people not to be misled by the people. He also added that city has been connected with so many cities across nation because of introduction of new trains.

Irfan khan joined congress with 150 from Muslim community. Chanchal Chitranjan and Darshan Garg and Kishan Chadha were also present.
